The Crucifixion is at the center of the Christian faith. The wrath of God had to be satisfied, but He didn’t want to destroy mankind. In the early days, He established animal sacrifices to pay for the sins of the people. It was enough to appease God’s wrath, yet you’ll never pay it off.
But God wanted more. Not from us, but more to give us. He wanted us to know Him and He to know us. And so He sent Jesus who would eventually go to the Cross. The cross and all that surrounds it is a reminder of God’s incredible love for sinful people.
